When many think in terms of funnel stay corsets they can not help but go way back into time, maybe even as far as the 16th century. A time when it was more than common for a woman to breathe in as much air as she could into her lungs and hold it in before clasping the funnel stay corset. It was more than uncomfortable and at times it was actually unbearable but the women did it to maintain a shape that society deemed perfect.

Today, the funnel stay corset is still around but is much more comfortable than back then. This corset represents a renaissance era and incorporates very nicely with medieval corsets of that period. Worn as high fashion or as a gothic statement, a stay corset offers the extra abdominal support but still keeps the traditional funnel shape.

This period corset is exceptionally hand crafted by an expert UK designer using only the highest quality material and techniques because this medieval corset is not a standard run of the mill corset. This corset is made from white satin with an overlay of white lace and white satin edging. It features lace up fastening at the front and back with gold eyelets. The body has 38 metal bones that help to create this wonderfully feminine funnel shape that’s finished with castellated tabs at the bottom allowing for the waist o be drawn in while the tabs flare out over the hips. The body of this medieval corset is then speckled with sparkling crystal detail. The period of this corset is reflected in the over the shoulder straps that are attached to the top front of the bodice with a white satin ribbon. A straight bust line holds the bust firm and creates the classic 18th century cleavage while the pointed front further elongates the body creating a slimmer profile.

Because primarily this style of corset is worn as more of a status symbol for the gothic era which includes both medieval and renaissance era as the sub cultures. Therefore this medieval corset is almost always displayed as outer wear and remains a growing trend to this very day.

This bridal corset should be ordered two to four inch’s smaller than your natural waist line.
