Prom dresses – Styles to flatter your shape |
 |
|
When choosing
prom dresses, you should not only think about the “in” design of the season or the color that tickles your fancy. The most important thing you should consider is if it’s flattering to your body type. Even if you’ve picked the cutest design in the world, it wouldn’t matter if it’s not flattering to your body type. To save you the agony of coming up with the wrong dress for prom, here is a list of dress styles for your body type:
- Hourglass – you have the shape every woman dreams of! This practically gives you the right to wear any prom dresses you want.
- Slender – your problem is the lack of curves, so you have to create an illusion of curves. You can do that by wearing a dress that bells out, wrap dresses, or belted dresses so you can draw attention to your bust and waist lines.
- Petite – height is your problem. However, you can look taller by choosing from prom dresses with asymmetrical hemlines or those which showcase a lot of leg. If you’re petite, please don’t visit the “long gown” section.
- Busty – you have been endowed with blessings! You can either flaunt these by wearing a dress with a gorgeous neckline and adequate support, or hide them by wearing prom dresses with a nice hemline, so the eye goes to the hem, not your bust.
- Pear – your hips are your problem parts. However, this should be the least of your concerns. What you have to do is flaunt what you love. If you love your behind, wear a form fitting dress. You can also wear a prom dress with a fitted top and a full A-line skirt.
- Apple – if the middle portion is your problem, draw attention away from it by choosing empire waist prom dresses. If you have legs as assets, try wearing a short empire waist dress.
- Athletic – you have been blessed with wide shoulders, narrow hips, small buttocks, and long legs. For that reason, you should wear a dress with simple straps or a strapless sheath style dress. These dresses can exhibit your pretty shoulders, and emphasize your bust. Pick
prom dresses with a fitted bodice to create an illusion of curves.
